Introducing E-Workshops

As unprecedented global challenges destabilise and deeply affect the world as we know it, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) strives to continue its mission uninterrupted in providing quality adult education through its unique e-workshops.

E-workshops are characterised by a similar format to that of face-to-face, in order to guarantee high levels of interactivity. E-Workshops provide a valuable platform for individuals all over the world to engage in constructive and inspiring discussions and exchange of ideas, while also representing an important opportunity for people to socialise and create a lifelong network with like-minded individuals.

The Online Certificate aims to reinforce individuals’ transferable professional skills in four different areas, in a time where flexibility and adaptability are key.

The 2nd Edition of the “Online Certificate on Essential Professional Skills“ will take place over four consecutive weeks from 30 August to 22 September 2021. Kindly find more information and the application link here.

Negotiation Skills

Negotiation is an art. Negotiation is an ongoing challenge that requires practice and continuous theoretical and practical reflection in order to master it and to be undertaken effectively, efficiently and with real, positive results.

Leadership and Team Mobilization

Leadership is fundamental to the effective and efficient delivery of work. The success of leaders relies upon their capacities to take initiative, lead others in and through challenging circumstances, and thus maximize opportunities and strengthen the positions, objectives and achievements of parties and groups.

Stakeholder Engagement

Stakeholder engagement at different levels or spheres – personal and professional -, with different stakeholder groups – journalists, international organisations, etc. – and in different situations – peaceful time, crisis situation is needed to operate at the peak level in the contemporary fast-evolving world.

Cross-Cultural Communication

Cross cultural communication is about dealing with people from other cultures in a way that minimizes misunderstandings and maximizes your potential to create strong cross-cultural relationships. Effective cross cultural communication is in essence about being comfortable.

Executive Online Certificate on Dispute Resolution

Well-developed negotiation and leadership skills become increasingly important in times of crisis. In this context, UNITAR and The Ambassador Partnership developed an Executive Online Certificate on Dispute Resolution to assist the capacity development of individuals during these challenging times.

The overall objective of the project is to enable participants to strengthen their professional skills in the workplace as well as developing external partnerships with other like-minded actors in the fields of negotiation, leadership, and dispute resolution.

The online certificate will focus on deepening participants’ knowledge and provide guidance on how to better integrate one’s own dispute resolution approaches related to negotiation and mediation at work. Through the online activity, UNITAR and The Ambassador Partnership intend to strengthen the participants’ knowledge to further improve high-level negotiation, mediation, and meeting skills.

Positivity and Resilience

People are the heart of all organizations, and as technology changes the world around us, organizational success will always need to effectively leverage its most valuable resource. In the face of epic levels of change and the necessity to be creative, implementing positivity and resilience approaches will enable your organization to survive and succeed in an increasingly changing environment, especially during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Leadership in Crisis

The increase in Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity (VUCA) in today’s world means that there is no longer one management approach that can be applied to all organizations and work settings. What leaders need during a crisis is not a predefined response plan but behaviours and mindsets that will prevent them from overreacting to yesterday’s developments and help them to look ahead, especially during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Conducting Diplomacy Digitally

Digital technologies have transformed the international environment in which diplomacy operates. Not only has it facilitated the participation of a plethora of new state and non-state actors in international relations, but it has posed serious structural and cultural challenges for foreign ministries and their diplomats working abroad.

Women’s Leadership

Traditional gender stereotypes exclude women from power or restrict them to governance positions of ‘soft’ areas. Focusing on women empowerment and gender equality has a massive multiplier effect, including promoting peace and security, providing equal opportunities in society and the labour market, and achieving sustainable development for developing countries.
