Covid-19: What’s next for the global economy? - EP. 1
This opening episode of “The Global Dialogue” series, , features Xavier R. Rolet KBE, named one of the 100 Best CEOs in the World in the 2017 Harvard Business Review and former CEO of the London Stock Exchange. Sir Rolet shares his unique personal and professional experiences ranging from racing in the Paris-Dakar Rally to chairing international companies as well as managing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The common thread characterising all his experiences is constant teamwork and cooperation at all levels, which define the essential tools needed to overcome burdens and harmoniously work together towards a prosperous and sustainable outcome.
In turn, Sir Rolet brings attention to the pressing need to strengthen multilateralism aimed at achieving a global governance framework to resolve current major transnational issues such as the Covid-19 pandemic as well as climate change and to operate across a continuum of urgencies. The dialogue then leads to the relevance of an imminent technological revolution aimed at developing and implementing unprecedented innovation mechanisms, through quantum computing and quantum communication, which will make data analysis more effective and efficient in order to support the global economy and the public sector at large. Sir Rolet concludes by strongly encouraging the new generations to think innovatively while following a vision with passion.

Meet the Expert
Xavier R. Rolet KBE is an experienced CEO, Co-Founder and Entrepreneur. Named as one of the 100 Best CEOs in the World in the 2017 Harvard Business Review, Xavier has a demonstrated history of successful turnarounds in the global financial services industry. In his decade at the helm of the London Stock Exchange (LSE), the LSE’s market valuation rose from £800m to more than £14bn, transforming it into one of the world’s largest exchanges by market capitalisation.
Xavier is non-executive Chairman of Phosagro PJSC, a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Stock Exchange Tadawul as an appointee of the Public Investment Fund and an Expert Advisor to the Shanghai Institute of Finance for the Real Economy. Xavier has also held various senior positions in the Financial Services Industry throughout his career.
Xavier is an Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire (KBE), a Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honour of France, an Officer of the Royal Sharifian Order of Al-Alawi and a Member of the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation.
